is it possible to use maxmsp as a kind of effectprocessor for abletonlive, while max is in slavemode. means: streaming audio from live to max -> max does whatever the patch is intended for -> streaming back to ableton acting as the rewirehost ... is there a way to achieve that with rewire !? any other solutions would be highly appreciated !? or is it necessary to run maxmsp as the rewiremixerapplication !? lg ste

afaik, rewire is not capable of full duplex audio, meaning it can send audio from one app to another, but not back again.

If you run Mac OS X, I think Cycling 74's SoundFlower might work for you. I haven't tried it so I don't know for sure, but from the description it should do what you want.

you can try pluggo. besides it is a collection of VST/AU plug-ins, you can convert you're own max/msp patches into pluggos. if you're on a pc you'll have to wait a few months for pluggo as the beta will be released soon.

ok. I´m on a pc. that means to me that you have to build a mixerpatch in max which reflects your whole ableton setup and run it as rewirehost if you want both effectprocessing as well as synthesis done by max (and that also means that any mastering plugs have to be run in max if you want anything else from max than synthesis, or am I wrong!?) ... as you can see, it would be very helpful to find a way to get fullduplexity ...
