Serious question!

I play a godin midi guitar and run clips in ableton that have different tempos and that loop.... (very important part of problem)
The channel strip with the soft instrument (AU/VST) is record enabled and when I switch clips..... and since the tempo changes are at the far right of the screen it causes the chanel strip, with the soft instrument that is record enabled to start recording!
I want to avoid this!
Any ideas?

you can remove stop buttons from any slot by right clicking
that way when you launch a new scene, nothing will happen to the slots where you have removed the buttons (e.g. the slots in your instrument track)

Does this mean I have to remove the stop buttons on every slot in every chanel strip I have record enabled so they dont record?

Hi,
Are you recording the 'Soft' instrument as you go? Cos if not firstly you don't necessarily have to have record enbled to hear it, you could go to 'monitor IN' instead of 'auto' and unarm that track, just a thought....
However if you don't need to start recording on scene launch then just go to prefernces and turn that feature off...

yeah i think all you need to do is turn off 'start recording on scene launch' in the prefernces. Then recording shouldn't happen when you launch the new clip...If you had clips in the same strip as the soft instrument then it sounds like you have the midi overdub button on, which will always start recording over your clip and turn it red.
