RELEASE: The amazing Rus-FX Live PA Effects rack!

I realize there's an official racks list, but this rack will ONLY work in live 8 so a live 6 rack list won't really work
This thing is designed to be used with the Kaoss Pads to control the effects parameters. It can however work with just about any touch pad control with no modification (or in some cases, very minor modification)....
It will also work with some Joysticks that support two axis and are also a button (they click when you press them).
More about the rack: It is designed to be used in a live performance scenario or in some cases in production (because you can of course use envelopes on the knobs). It is far superior to a kaoss pad 2/3.... and of course you can design as many effects as you want yourself by example.
There are 18 effects that have nice effects trails and most of them are BPM fx (meaning they are designed to "studder", and do other things to the beat)...
Using it: Open up the return track containing the rack...... and simply midi map the x, the y, and the touch message to your control pad. Also map the fourth knob (effect selector) to a rotary encoder....
Now send any track you want to the return track and you're done. It is also a "magic return rack" so it will silence the original track and reproduces it in its own way for clean effects with nice trails.
Enjoy!

Sounds really hot - yet one more reason I wish I had a Kaoss Pad.
I'm on a gear moratorium until November, though... sigh

I Can't get to have any sound playing.
Every way I take this, I see the audio meters but no sound comes out of my speakers... Damn no way to try it than blindly
Can't understand what I'm doing wrong, No audio to master track

Look at the master track and if there's an external audio effect, delete it

I use that for my external mastering chain, I might have forgotten to get rid of it

.
Good luck!
By the way you don't need a kaoss pad to be able to use it.... you can use any pad controller joystick or if you want to be mega ghetto you could even get away with using three knobs with less then impressive results.

You welcome, I finished incorporating it into my own liveset... I got two copies of it with two pad controllers (one kaoss pad 2 and one padKONTROL's pad) and it's a whole load of fun!

Hi Rus,
Sorry it's taken a while to give feedback....
I'd downloaded a while ago and only just got round to opening the set up (and carving it up), you might want to consider just hosting the rack rather than the whole als file to make it easier for people....
I say this cause i'd hate for others to miss out on it! It's that good!
I use a padKontrol and have farmpad to program it so i've got two scenes set up to correspond to two rus-fx racks in my A and B summing tracks. The x-y pad is mapped as instructed whilst the pads are all transmitting the same control change but at different velocity's so that when mapped to the chain/effect select i have a visual reference of what effect is in action. I've then highlighted the auto button so that Ableton selects which chain the audio is routed through and mapped the header of the rack to the scene select button on the padKontrol so that it instantly b rings the rack up when i choose to use it....
A couple of the effects didn't suit me so i swapped them out, mainly the beat repeat ones that made a hole in the sound before kicking into action and the grain one sent my MAC into orbit on cpu....
I'll probably continue on adding more and more versions of your effects as i love the tempo controlledness of them and the way you can hold you finger and let them build and then make quick movements to get it racing.....
Overall excellent work mate and now a mainstay in my megaset that i'm building!
Cheers

Thanks man, I thought about releasing it as only a rack, but then I realised that a lot of less experienced people would haver trouble using it... so I set it up as an example.
Thanks for kind words, glad you like it

Good point well made.....
The only thing i might go to map in addition is the limiter to be able to bring some bits down when they really build up.... Or have you found a good setting that you can leave it alone with?
Cheers

There are definitely a couple of effects that are a bit louder then they should be.... all you gotta do is prop open the main chain and tinker with the volume... unless you are talking about the fx tail.... in which case those are either reverbs or simple delays that can have the delay or feedback rates that can be turned down.
