Toggle sample playback in Sampler/Simpler

Hi - I tried searching for this but couldn't find it.

I'm using an external midi pad (Roland SPD-S) to trigger samples in Drum Racks (Live 8).

Does anyone know if I can set Sampler or Simpler so that hitting the drum pad toggles playback of a sample? ie hit the pad once to start the sample and hit it again to stop it.

I've also rooted around in the SPD-S manual to see if that will transmit Note On/Off data, but I don't think it does.

Thanks in advance

create a midi clip, set it to toggle mode, and draw in the note you want to be triggered. make the note either really long, or set up short infinite loop, then midi-map the clip to your roland's pad.

Thanks Guys, this was really useful. I finally got this going and then couldn't work out how to get Sampler or Simpler to play long samples (triggered by hitting a pad) that didn't fade out. Can the release be set to longer than 60s?

I loaded clips into slots in the end, using your tips about turning off quantization and changing the launch to toggle, which works well. Although my session view is massive now because each clip is on a different track and scene.

Thanks again for the tips

in the Sampler/Simpler, use sustain set to 100% rather than playing with the release.
in the midi clip, use an infinite loop rather than a long drawn out note.

infinite loop (note the start point is seperate from the loop point):

with the clip set to toggle, the sample will play as long as you want, until you hit the pad again to turn it off.

in sampler on the filter/global page below the ve envelope window there's value for the playmode. switch it to trigger and every sample will playback as oneshot

edit: to stop it use another sample or dummy in the same mutegroup (yoke)
