cant seem to delete 1/1 in midimap

hi guys, ive been using ableton for a while but never with midi.
i bought a novation zero sl. upgraded to automap 3.
im trying to trigger clips using drum pads on the sl.
i go into midimap and select a clip then hit a drum pad but what happens is that the corresponding midi note will automatically switch to 1/1 pretty much straight away (still in midimap mode).
weird thing is that i cant seem to delete the 1/1 either.
if i press another button on my sl it just changes back to 1/1.
am i doing something wrong?
