Middle Eastern / ethnic samples - high quality - recommend?

Can someone recommend a sample package that includes a lot of high-quality loops of middle-eastern and ethnic beats and strings (sitar/other)? I love the sound of the darabuka and other drums, as well as the stringed instruments but haven't found a good, professional-quality package. I am working on a Thievery Corporation-style project....

Thanks!

It depends on what you are looking to use them with. The easy way is to make your own. Lots of vinyl and CDs with middle and far eastern material. Ableton's sampler is amazing for this type of thing, or you can just load the samples into clips and trigger them.

The thing I like doing best is recording the samples into my editor, slicing them in recycle and then playing them in stylus rmx. you start getting all chaos with the rex files and things get weird and rhythmic quick.

what format are you looking for and what devices (plug ins), if any, are you hoping to use the samples in?

Are you using 8?

Thanks - those are some good suggestions. I am using Suite 8 now (just upgraded) and I have been playing with the slicing feature built-in. I don't have much middle-eastern stuff on CD, so I guess I will try hitting some used CD places, although I live in an area where I probably won't find much.

I appreciate the insight! If anyone else has something to add, please let me know :)

To get the best ethnic sample CDs you really have to go to Ethnia and buy them yourself.

If you are on windows, I have some software that kicks out killer ethnic drums with little to no effort, and sounds kick ass every time.

info is here:
