Hi everyone

Im trying to make a mashup and im struggling to get it sounding nice

Both tunes are the same key

I dont know what im doing with the filters and I hope someone can help me out

it seems like you have a little learning to do so I might google for some tips on DJ eq-ing or making mashups...

BUT heres my two cents to get you started -

take the track you want "on top" and throw a high pass filter on it and move the frequency up and down until the bass is quiet enough. from here you can put this song on top and the beat/drums/bass won't be conflicting as much. Now put a notch filter on the bottom track and adjust the frequency / Q until the parts you want on top really start to shine through. For instance, if there is a synth riff around 7khz that you want to throw on top, notch filter 7 khz on the bottom track. You can do this by ear, or you could put the top track in a spectrum analyzer to see where its hitting.

These are very basic things that will get the mashup sounding better - to further improve it you will want to listen and see what parts are conflicting and try to deal with them (i.e. maybe low pass the highs on one track)
