M Audio & Fast Track Pro problem

Post by JoePolaroid » Tue Jul 21, 2009 7:43 am

Hi

Just looking for some clarification please.

I'm trying to set up my M Audio Ozone to use as the Midi controller with Ableton 7, but it cannot be found in Ableton when Im trying to set it up. The Fast Track Pro is working fine.

Am I correct in thinking that Ableton will not allow two USB devices at the same time? And is it true that a Midi cable can be used to get around this? If so, how?

Im running:
Windows XP
Ableton 7.0.1

Many thanks.

Hi,

No, you can use two or even more USB devices.
Please reinstall the latest driver for your Ozone from www.m-audio.com

Hi Jorg

Thanks for the reply, I have already tried this several times but with no luck.

Do you know what else I can try?

Hi Joe,

in general I would recommend to update to Live 7.0.16: www.ableton.com/latest_versions

Always make sure that the Ozone is connected and switched on before you start Live.
Does the driver installation of the Ozone finish properly? Is the device recognized by Windows?
If the problem persists, please contact [email protected] with your log.txt attached as described here:

It should be that all you need to do is buy midi cable and plug your keys into the back of your fast track pro, That will not only severely decrease latency of the keyboard but it will turn the use of two usb ports to one making the load on your motherboard much smaller.

It should be a basic plug and play fix to the problem.

Here is an example of a basic midi cable. (http://www.amazon.com/HOSA-STANDARD-MID ... B000068NTZ) Again, this is basic, you may want to buy something a bit more quality if you are willing... Definitely go big on cables because it SUCKS when they fail.

Maybe this (one http://www.guitarcenter.com/Monster-Cab ... 1128604.gc)
