The "convert audio to sampler instrument" remembers me something ;)

€200 to upgrade - pass.

Quite a lot of Live-like features in there, the warping being a more obvious one! Drum replacer looks pretty handy too. Not worth €200 IMO though - €150 for Live 8 will be a stretch for me on its own...

From page linked above:
Full ReWire support

Run MainStage with applications like Reason and Live. Trigger and sequence your instruments from MainStage, and route your signals straight into the mixer.

The mainstage rewire is going to make me update in a few months for sure...

Plus, importing audio into Mainstage looks dead easy compared to slicing and dicing Logic songs in Live. Rewire is the big one though. 8)

I'm curious - why is Mainstage Rewire so important to you guys? Is it that you're wanting to use Logic instruments in Live? I would have thought that would be possible just using the standard sequencer view? Or is it a sync thing?

Yeah so what's different now? Rewire in mainstage? Will it act as rewire slave to Live?

Use Logic instruments and effects in Live. Use Ultrabeat's sequencer view for live drums. Reduce the CPU i have now from running IAC clock and JackOS to currently rout Mainstage into Live. Use my custom made environment in mainstage seamlessly with live.

But are you sure it will act as rewire slave? Logic doesn't right?

^^^ i don't think so, they would be stupid to open their plugs to other hosts, very stupid!

From what I can tell it doesn't look like Mainstage or Logic 9 can act as Rewire slave - the manuals are online and they only mention using Logic/Mainstage as a host.

This brings up a question I had previously which I had thought was a bit dumb but know that I know Logic can't act as Rewire slave doesn't seem as obvious.

The new update has tempo import/export, but this seems to be limited to a single tempo for a single audio file bounced/recorded within Logic and not project > project tempo map import/export as it seemed from the press release.

In Live it's fairly simple to import an audio file, warp it, and then set that clip as a Tempo Master in Arrange view. In Logic with the same file you have to manually adjust tempo markers (that's still the same in Logic 9 on a quick check of the manual).

My question is: is it possible to export Live's master tempo map into Logic? Maybe via a MIDI file or something? It seems like it'd be a very basic thing to do, hence it might be a dumb question.

this update looks underwhelming! unless i'm missing something....there had been rumors about a crazy new workstation synth/sampler to make even the EXS24 look like a toy.....but, uh, guess they were rumors only.

the "flex time" -- hahah. well, guess it was inevitable.... the little tabs even look identical to Live's warp tabs!
