Warping Multiple Tracks

After you have warped a track, can you apply the same warp markers to a track of the same length, OR do you have to warp it initially at the same time?

I haven't been able to set this up correctly. Thanks for any help.

I _think_ that since live 8 you can't copy and paste markers,

so you either do it from the beginning as a multi-warp,

or can you do it the old-school way, by copying the warped track, and replacing the sample file on the copy with the other track to be warped with the same markers

??

1) From the beginning as multi-warp: What are the mechanics of this method? I've tried selecting multiple tracks and warping one, but the settings dont transfer to the other ones.

2)Replacing the file: does it have to be precisely the same exact length?

yes, exact length

that is key to #1 also

select a time span across all and consolidate. careful of warp settings b4 consolidating

Thanks longjohns. Consolidating allowed me to apply the warp markers to multiple clips, doing so from scratch for all tracks.

What about the situation where you already have one clip of the exact same length as another, and you want to apply the warp settings of one to the other. Is this possible in Live 8?

This is probably a dumb question, but how do you substitute a clip, some kind of hot swap feature?

Haha just kidding, signing on because i'd also like to know exactly how that works... :)

edit: you replace a clip's sample by dragging the new one into the clip view
original post wrote:can't get it to work. I guess that went out the window somewhere since live 5

it appears it is not possible to replace a sample in a single clip, only across all clips in a set.

sorry for the mis-info

found a file mgmt bug, will try to make a thread on that later.

(I was able to get the warp markers from one clip to show up on another, but lost the markers on the original clip in the process)

edit: see later post - was doing something dum

right-click the clip waveform > 'Manage Sample File' and use the hotswap buttons in the File Manager.
shame that copy & paste of warp markers was dropped in 8. i hadn't realized that.

that will replace all the instances of that sample, across the entire set

good point! then i guess you'd have to duplicate the original warped file, then consolidate the duplicate, then duplicate the original again, then hotswap, duplicate, consolidate etc etc.

pure tedium :|

Yes, I think the moral of the story is: warp the multiple tracks all at once in the beginning.

Thanks for exploring this with me

and once you consolidate a clip... the warp markers are gone
