Setting the upper Db point for volume on a midi controller

I'm not sure if this is a midi controller question or an ableton question. I am using a novation remote sl and when the sliders are all the way up I'm hitting +6db. I need fast action volume fading for what I'm doing so I'm wondering how to set the upper limit for volume. In this case I want it to hit zero db when all the way up and complete kill when all the way down. (sound is already killed when down) Thanks for the help!!

Use your midi controller editor and restrict the max. value the faders are sending.

All that I see in the remote sl editor that resembles the volume of the sliders is a designated area for "High value" set at 127 and "Low Value" set at 0. Are these what I need to fiddle with? If so, how do I know what settings to use?

that's it!
leave the low value at 0 and try the high value at 99, go from there...

If you are controlling volume faders in Ableton Live, wouldn't it be simpler to change the MIDI control's max parameter to 0db in Live?

For manually mapped controls, yes, but for instant mapping, it's probably just as easy on the device itself, as SubFunk said.

ah maybe yeah, this way it would only apply to that particular set, or setting up a scene as i suggested would give the option to apply that controller scene whenever you need control to max 0db... Either way would work, pick what seems more convinient to you.
