MISSING AUTOMATION PARAMETER!!!

i've done some automation on a midi track while playing in session and recording in arrangement.
the automation was just to mute the midi track clicking on the speaker button.
in the arrangement, the button says it's automated (red square in the corner), but there's nowhere i can access this automation to edit it.
is there something i'm missing?
to reproduce it:
- in a new set with one midi track in session view
- hit F9 and play a midi clip in the track
- activate/deactivate speaker button
- stop recording
- go in arragement view: the speaker icon says its automated.
- try to find where to edit this automation...

Hello Peeddrroo,
I´m afraid i can´t reproduce this on OS X.
The automations shows up as expected in the arrangement. (unfold the Midi Track and select the Speker envelope from the Mixer chooser).
Best,
Ch. Kleine

ok, i have some more info:
if you put an instrument (say impulse) in the track it works as expected.
but if you leave the track empty, then 'mixer' don't appear in the choices available when the track is unfolded.
and this configuration happens lots of time when you use midi tracks for multiple channel instruments: i have several midi tracks connected to a kontakt track, and none of these tracks have the 'mixer' choice. so i can't put any mixer automation on them. at least i can't edit this automation.
hope this helps!
cheers

why don't you rather ask ableton to make a mac-only application?

I just discovered a similar problem tonite on an audio track. I automated the volume data on an audio clip and basically I can hear the volume behaving as it should, but there is no automation data to edit!!!!! It's like I never entered any data at all...

I opened the aforementioned audio clip in it's respective clip editor by double clicking on it and drawing in volume curve data. Later, after working with the song and closing-saving-opening many times I went back to edit the volume curve on that clip and the data was not there. However, there was indication of volume manipulation on the clip in the mixer (small dot hopping up and down on that track). When I clicked on the volume tab of that clip, there was no automation. I had to redo it by hand so I would be able to tweak/edit it down the road, it sucked very hard.

just5in217, not sure but it sounds like you may be confusing clip automation and mixer/arrange automation somehow...they are not the same thing.

I've been using Live since it's inception... that's over 2 years ago. I know the difference between clip automation and mixer/arrange automation. Plain and simple... the volume curve on my AUDIO CLIP vanished... I never automated the mixer to begin with, just the clip. Since manually correcting this, the problem has not repeated itself, thankfully...keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn't creep back in somehow. Wierdest thing I've ever seen in terms of a Live glitch.
