Some basic and some not so very basic feature requests

Would like some basic features if possible in already a monster app, should hopefully make it a beast. :)

1. keyboard and midi mapping export : if mappings can be exported on demand or when a live set is saved ( in any text file , html, etc) can help a lot as different songs require sometimes different mappings and becomes hard to remember each mapping when performing LIVE!. if these can be exported and printed can help a lot to anyone who is performing live.

2. some support for building a sample library from clips, surely will be a highly appreciated feature,. lemme explain a bit. let say i have a loop and i have several copies of the same loop with different clip and envelopes applied in session. but one can only save one asd file with the loop so those samples cannot be shared much across different livesets.
if somehow the asd file can rather save an array or structure for as many instances of changed clip like a preset for this very clip/loop and make it available as a drop down near clip view , then this can help a lot as one can have easier access to a clip/loop variations in other live sets.

3. i frequently use live to record realtime loops for future project usage, and i can trim and crop the recorded loop using an external editor (sound forge or saw pro) in this case, but if "trim to loop/selection" or crop selection can be added (destructive editing) in live itself, so that one can save a recorded loop in true and clean groove , it can be a handy feature.

4 Have not figured out a way to bounce a midi clip (with vsti) to audio slot (i end up arming a audio slot and then recording the midi output and then setting end point on bar to make that a loop), but can help in reducing load and keeping a set quantized vstiZed midi clip to a audio loop .

5. any way so live can rename a recorded clip (wave/aiff) to whatever name one sets in clip parameter and change the reference parameter on hitting the save button. it becomes very hard to manage these files with names like record 1 take etc.

6. one big problem is vsti and vst effects, live takes too much time to scan these folders at times if one has big collection, me being one of those unfortunate ones. if vst scanning can be put into a external executable that can buid vst banks (collection of vstis that one can assotiate into colllections and set a light one as default so live does not have to go through all of them at once and can load a collection set into vst folder when one requires that specific group) This might sound as a lamest of the wishes though.

If any ones goes through this thread, thank you for reading all this but i think with some of the wishlist features listed above , live can rule a whole new segment of market for composers and loop production studios than just performing artists.

Thank you Again.

excellent idea! Or a list that shows up on screen, just like the lessons?

I second that sooo much. Live is the best sound design tool I've come across (read: can afford :) ), and I'd really like an "export and replace loop" button, preferably instead of that edit button in clip view  I hate being able to make a killer loop in under a minute, then having to either drag to arrange and render from there, or press edit, and then set the loop markers all over. Also, it should be able to export with effects. That would rock! Then I'd finally get my sample cd finished!

This is the way to do it, although, if the global q value is set just right, it shouldn't be neccesary to set the end point manually. This process should only take a few seconds, so you must not be doing it right :P

I came to the forum today to make these same suggestions.

But regarding number 5, Live should also retain the ability to rename the clip within the set WITHOUT renaming the file name of the sample itself. Maybe just add a "save as" button.

Thanks.

Totally agree with your #4. Bouncing myself takes a bit of time. Not exactly sure what you want in your #5 ~ auto naming clips? I just wish when I moused over a clip ~ 1.5 secs later I see the full name. Right now, we only get about 9 characters of viewing space.

trimming and renaming from within live -

that´d save a lot of time (^-^)

I ran into ths same crop trim issues & thought I was just stupid. Glad 2 C that others feel my pain. Trimming and renaming are very needed features.

re: Trimming or Cropping to Loop section.
You can do this easily enough by routing the track you are working in to another audio track and recording for the length of the loop. Its not perfect, but it works.

Just jumping on the crop/trim bandwagon here. I came searching to see if there was a way to do this already - I'll try the bounce track idea and see how I like it. Hopefully an integrated crop/trim will be forthcoming, though!

Another cool thing would by "analyze tempo / time sig" so when I record a loop I can have Live set those for me by looking at my cropped and trimmed audio loop.

#2 please!!!

I whole heartedly agree with your second suggestion! I came to request this feature myself here today!!
there needs to be some way to implement separate asd files that all reference the same audio file! these should be easily saveable from the session window (i.e. highlight a clip and choose "save linked analysis file as..." and allows you to save it where you want with the name you want.
