Vst pluggins and rewire

Do vst pluggins stop working when Live is rewired into Protools? I am having trouble getting them to open up when rewired but not when Live is opened up by itself, why?

that vst/vsti fx are not supported while live is rewired.

Yes, there is a technical reason. When in Rewire Slave mode, the Live GUI and the Live Audio Engine (DSP) run in two different processes. The User Interface and the DSP code in a VST and Audio Unit plug-in are tightly connected and the standards are not designed to allow inter process communication.
It is not that it is impossible to achieve, but it is really difficult and requires a lot of work.
