Just saw the nativekontrolvideo about the apc. and its now mac to.. I was really aiming for the ohm 64, but now I am not shure what to get.. Apc 40 or Ohm 64.. They cost about the same here in norway to...

i can't help but think that the advantages afforded by the apc, with respect to it's integration with ableton live, will only continue to grow. don't forget, max4live is gonna come out later this year...

we hope...or sometime in the future ....

yeah i know.. but.. ah i had decided for the ohm64, but now.. ah, i may end up getting an apc... why is this so fucking hard!

Ok what are the negative things about the apc really?

a lot of the negative things about the APC are from people with their first night with it or people who don't have one yet.


given that the APC is made for Live and users are already making hacks for it, it's a better choice for Live users. I've seen an Ohm, clunky in design, LEDs will burn your eyes, not much more than a heavy button box, I wasn't very impressed.

get them at a store with a decent return policy, we don't know how you work only you can decide that.

OHM is general purpose and can be mapped to everything. APC is meant for live. APCs interaction with other software is limited.

If live is your main DAW, sampler, instrument - get an APC.

how is the lights on the apc? is it very hard to see in sunlight? i might have some outdoor gigs..

They are a little dim in direct sunlight. I've had some outdoor gigs with mine and at times it was hard to see the clip view lights. Though to be honest, I've never had any luck with any gear in direct sunlight, especially with pads that light up like this.

Yeah I can easily imagine a whole settlement of umbrrllas around your work area during the live set

ohm64 is quite expensive if I'm right [ok apc too but not as high as for the ohm if I remember well]

Oh Just pick one or the other!
Obviously you have the money to spend away on it, and eventually you will probably buy both.

No you are talking about the old ohm. The 64 is lighter then my APC40, i would guess around 5 lbs and the LED's are not nearly as bright as the older model. they are also controllable and saveable so they can be turned up or down. the lights pretty much look like this on mine http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KkKESe_QdKE

I would go for the Ohm over the apc40, but they do different things.
