Discovery Channel FTW!!
yeah, dig it every year but I really wish they'd chill on the promos showing people getting attacked, total overhyped bullshit. as someone who likes to go into the ocean from time to time I don't need that shit in my head.

Eh, I think it's a little played out.
It's the Lady Gaga of animal weeks.
I'd be more excited if it was a week of squid or even whales.

I used to love Shark Week, but I agree it's gotten lame. Too many sensationalist survivor stories, not enough science. The one about the guy who could hypnotize sharks by rubbing their noses was sweet, though.

The Goth in me has always had a thing for bats but if Discovery dedicated an entire week to bats year after year I'm sure I'd stop watching after year 2. Animals don't evolve that quickly and there's not much new to know to dedicate an entire week to.
They should seriously dedicate weeks to different animals and only when there's enough information to dedicate a week to, not just "OMG! It's a shark/snake/spider/scary critter!"

it's been one day and you're bashing it FFS!! even then on day one you found some cool info.
Beats Me - that's the other 51 weeks of the year.

More people die each year from coconuts falling on their heads than die from shark attacks
It makes for less exciting documentaries though.

If it wasn't popular then they certainly wouldn't be doing it....American Idol drones on. I just think they took the easy road. Sharks are swimming and eating machines, not really a lot going on there. There are other species that are far more diverse and complex.
I don't see much excitement in watching essentially the same footage of a shark swimming around in a circle day after day on TV, but if I had a large shark tank in my house I'm sure I would stare at it daily for hours and it would never get old.

sharks with frigging laser beams on their foreheads.
agreed, we'll have to see what they have for the rest of the week. really it's just background noise while I play with Looper.
IMO American Idol and Dancing With Celebrities or whatever it's called are modern versions of shows like Laugh In that had song and dance numbers.

No, actually the "one day" was about 2 years ago.

America's Top Dance Crew (or whatever it's called) is pretty cool. You get all the breakers and poppers. Interesting how they've taken dance styles that have been around for 20+ years and improved on them. That's kind of evolution you won't get from sharks....still just swimmin' .....and eatin'.
I think if I was still in my early 20's I'd give up writing music and join a dance crew. More instant gratification, getting laid, and getting exercise, lower overhead.
