Can you diagnose my problem? Is it my Laptop?

Hey,
Have just purchased Live 7 LE, but it runs so slow on my laptop it's pretty much impossible to use.
I've got about 12GB free on my HD and i've ordered an external anyway so can't see this being a problem. Also have 4GB of RAM which I assume to be sufficient? However my AMD processor is only 1.7GB which I think is quite low? It's only a bog standard cheap (but new) acer laptop, but I upgraded the RAM myself and haven't got any other software installed other than Live (apart from IE, iTunes, MSN etc) I'm just trying to isolate the problem as if neccessary I'd rather patch up this laptop than buy a new one.
The weird thing is that I messed around with a demo of Live 7 a few months ago and it ran fine. But using it now is unbareable; 4-5 second click delay, crashes if I import audio, crashes if I try to playback...
Any advice would be massivley appreciated as I'm desperate to get going with music again after a few years out of the game...
