Does anyone know of a plug-in that you drop on an audio track to control the fade-in and fade-out of a loop as it cycles round?

EDIT: just thought of a better way to describe what I want - like a Boss Slow Gear pedal but with adjustable release too.

If you have some kind of sustained sound, a pad sample maybe, that you want to loop, your best bet is probably to drop it into sampler/simpler and use the loop setting in there. If its a percussive loop and you want to soften the transients you can use the clip volume automation, draw your volume ADSR on the first hit, then copy and paste the automation on every hit after that in the clip.
If neither of these ideas is any good, post again with a bit more detail about what it is you want to do and the nature of the audio file you want to do it too.

Been trying to get my head around this....

I use schaak audio transient shaper over loops and it allows you to alter the attack & decay of individual audio transients not the whole loop.

or you could drop your loops in a preset simpler setting that you already have mapped for attack, decay, sustain and release
But im guessing you just want to drop loops in the session view and alter

Havent tried these, so you may have to do a bit of research....but what i think you need is an ADSR enveloper follower

Cheers guys. Should have given some more info. What I want to do is record a guitar line into an empty clip slot, and then be able to fade it in/out. I could use the volume fader, of course, but I want the fade in/out to happen each time it loops round.

Also, with control over the attack/release you can get different effects than with just volume automation. And obviously we don't have session view automation at the moment

I have tried dropping guitar parts into Simpler, and I can get the effect/control I want. But I want to be able to record the guitar live and then adjust the parameters without having to drag the audio into Simpler.

Why don't you just draw a quick volume envelope in the clip? Done, it'll fade in each time it loops around. Or are you trying to do this while performing?

Yeah, I want to do this live while performing. Dummy Clips are a good idea, but I want to maybe alter the fade in/out each time and record the resulting changes in sound. And the clips would be of different lengths.

You can do what I want to achieve with a piece of audio in Simpler: one moment you have a percussive sound, the next moment this is evolving into a sound with a slower attack and longer release etc.

If I could record directly into Simpler, that would do what I want to do. Or maybe features such as this will be added to Looper in the future?

why not just use a volume pedal on your guitar signal before it goes into the computer?

Good idea, but the audio would be recorded with the volume changes. The point is I want to be able to continually alter the attack/release on the fly to morph the sound.

So basically, you want a 'live' ADR envelope... have you thought about using something like Reaktor or Bidule (or Max) and building on? Or alternatively, do any of your synth plugins have audio inputs? I know you can use the NI Pro-53 for doing exactly what you want...or at least in a fashion!

Exactly. I am sure I'll be able to sort this with Max for Live... audio envelopes, cancer, world peace will all be solved with M4L
