ABLETON 8 MIXED IN KEY FUNCTION ??

This may have been covered before but does anyone know if Ableton 8 has a built in function like the progeam ' Mixed in Key' ??

http://www.mixedinkey.com

Harmonic Mixing is an advanced technique used by top DJs all over the world. By mixing tracks that are in the same or related keys, harmonic mixing enables long blends and mash-ups. The goal is to eliminate key clashes.

Harmonic mixing consists of two elements: knowing the key of every song that you play and knowing which keys are compatible.

This would be SOOOOOOO helpful doin key dj mixes in ableton would save me alot of time scanning racks in mixed in key then renameing them with key codes .

Anyone any ideas?

No, but you can drag files from the browser window of Mixed in Key into Ableton. I do that all the time. They go together perfectly.

This may be ignorant (my apologies in advance):

Couldn't you just use your ears and change the key of the song using the transpose function of a clip?

you could, but MIK is mainly for harmonic mixing so imagine doing that if you have hundreds of gigs worth of MP3's.. MIK sorts all out according to Camelot key system and then you can concentrate on just picking the song your going to play next, instead of trying to change the key of the song during a live situation.. MIK is good for organizing samples also..

I use rapid evolution for that job !

check it out! http://www.mixshare.com/

It is free, imo way more accurate than MIK (BUT it has a bad gui and is a bit complicated to use)

Fair that is a c*&ts trick to make you pay again for the mac version. i don't use a function like this yet but was thinking about it as i'm getting better at DJing with ableton and i want to start DJing out again. Think i'll go for the free version.

Would make a nice addition for live 9 though - ableton this kind of function would put you even further ahead of the game.........

Hey Guys,
Thomah of Voodohop made a free max tool thats providing this function.
Its called: "Voodohop Live Tools" and is free for download. Unfortunately its often not able to find the key of my tracks, maybe its working better for you.
