Midi-Controller and EQs ?

Hi Folks,

first the simple version of my Question:

I would like to allocate ONE selfmade Midi-Controller-Mapping to the EQ-Eight which i can use then for every EQ-Eight-Instance (depending on the selected Mixer-Channel).

Now the extended Version :D

I own a Novation Zero SL MKii and Ableton 8. Works fine together. But now i want to control the EQ-Eight for example - i checked how to do that in using the Zero as a "Controller Surface" in Ableton, but unfortunately then the automatic mapping of the Parameter to the Novation is very dissapointing in my opinion.

So i created an Automap-User-Patch and used the Midi-Mapping-Function from Ableton to map it to the EQ - so far it worked pretty good.

But my problem:
Now that Mapping only works with the one EQ-Instance i created it with.
Of course i would like to control every single EQ on every Channel with that one Mapping depending on the selected Channel (like usual in other DAWs). Does Anybody has a Tip how to do that? Any help appreciated.

I actually have the same problem:
I want to change/edit the automatic Midi mapping, so it better fits to my needs and my control surface. So is there a way to edit those automaps or is there a list of Midi Ctrl-Nrs., that are in use for those maps, so that I can set up my Controller with the right controllers?

Here's a solution:

Set up your controllers as follows:

All to output on midi channel 1

rotary 1= midi cc 1
rotary 2 = midi cc2
etc
rotary 8 = midi cc 8

Set up ableton prefs as follows

Midi sync panel
Control surfaces = BCR2000
Input = your controller

That's it. Now any rack with the 'blue hand' focus will have its 8 dials controlled by your 8 knobs

Therefore you can make an eq8 (or any other plug) into a rack, map what you want to control onto the 8 rotary controls, click the top to get the blue hand, and you're sorted.

You can ignore the rest of the midi ports part of the midi/sync prefs, you don't need em.

Neither do you need to midi map anything

Couldn't be simpler!

PS I'm not familiar with your controller, so don't know if you can set the midi channel or cc numbers yourself. If not you'll need to use a midipipe / bomes type midi converter. I have a UC33e set up as above and it works great.
You might also lose some of the other functionality of your controller if you tell Ableton its a BCR2000, in which case you'll probably have to change the CCs for the rest of the unit so it mimics the behaviour of a bcr2000 in other respects

ah great, thanks. I will try out right now.

Is there any controller information for non-rack devices in live?

Edit: Yeah, worked fine for my Radium-49! Thanks again.

If you are mimicking a BCR2000 then the other controls I know about are:

Faders 1 to 8 are on midi channels 1 to 8, cc numbers 97 to 104
Master fader is channel 9 cc 144

On midi channel 1, you get:

send 1 on ableton channel 1 to 8 is cc nos 81 to 88
send 2 is cc nos 89 to 96

if you have buttons (or keys) they should all be set to operate on midi channel 1

try midi notes 76 to 101 and you'll find some interesting effects including scene selection, fire, transport controls etc.

in BCR2000 script on channel 1 you can switch 4 banks of the knobs cc1 - cc8

CC65 switch to bank A
CC66 switch to bank B
CC67 switch to bank C
CC68 switch to bank D
