Rules
1. Only the sample and native effects can be used
2. No synthesizers or drums besides ones you can create via sampling
3. No third party plugins
4. Sampler is allowed
5. A part of the sample must be distinguishable (even if its just a blip)
6. Track should be around 2-3 minutes...no penalty but keep it short and sweet if you can
7. I recommend uploading your entry to a free box.net for very fast uploads and downloads and no stupid download wait timer.
PM ME WITH YOUR FINISHED TRACK FOR ANONYMOUS POLLING. PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR ALIAS IN THE TRACK TITLE
The contest will run for
ONE week. After
ONE WEEK from the date and time posted, a poll will be made with links to the contestants entries.
The poll lasts three days and the winner has choice of a new sample for the next battle.
Hopefully we can all learn some new techniques by building songs with limited means.
LET THE GAMES BEGIN!!!

First of all, big up for the idea to start something like this in the forum.

Just to clearify: Does that mean create via sampling from the provided sample?
...and another one, because of the provided sample(good one btw):
any limits in musical styles/genres?
A Limit in one genre would make it more comparable and i guess it opens up the views of all the people involved. Thinking about it, this could end up really funny. I can see myself fiddling sumthin out of it.
Cheers

two weeks? That's a contest, not a battle. A battle would be to post the sample and people have 1 hour or so to finish something.
In two weeks you can do anything.

I'm gonna do fuck all for 13 days and 23 hours, then go at it like a mental patient in the final hour.
the true battle is within oneself.

that's true as well. 14 days just means that you have 13 days to think "tomorrow I start".

you cant use anything but the sample. drums can be made by eqing...filtering etc
style limitations would be no fun. there will be similarities due to the lack of drum samples and synths.

I think it means you've got to use sounds from the main sample, manipulated in Sampler, to make your drums/synth noises.
