footswitch for the APC

Howdy. I'm on os x (leopard) running live 8 with an apc40. Just wanted to know if there were any recommendations for foot switches. ALSO: keeping in mind the apc's default behavior within the "device control" section wherein the "device on/off" button will work only for the device which is currently highlighted onscreen (the magic of the secret handshake? some sort of gating process?), I am wondering if the foot switch will behave in the same way and, if not, what modifications are necessary to accomplish this. Specifically, I am looking to control the looper with the footswitch (like so many others). However, I only want the footswitch to control the looper that is currently highlighted onscreen (much in the same way as the "device control" panel). Naturally, I want the looper on just about every track. How do I only necessitate a single foot switch. The solution I have now is great, I made a DIY USB footswitch which sends out keystroke messages. There's a tutorial on the cycling74 website here...

...But, the thing has taken a beating since last year and it's time to move on. Here's hoping the solution can be as simple as I want it to be. My guess: the apc footswitch can be routed to the different "device control" banks, taking the signal from each bank and applying it to the different loopers.

Thats interesting question, my APC hasn't arrived yet, but I wonder if there are 'device banks' as you put it. that would be very nice for my set up.

From my experience, you've gotta assign the footswitch using cmd/ctrl+m
