Total crash with Plug Ins

Hi,
I have a pretty serious problem.
I've been running live without seperate plug ins activated, without any problems.
I browsed to my Cubase VST Plugins folder (mainly just the standard
plugs that come with Cubase SX) and after numerous warning messages saying that various plugs would not function within Live (which I ok'd) the program just crashes out to desktop.
I had the plugin folder set up and running in Live 3.
I am using Windows XP with a DMX6 Fire souncard.
Has anyone else had this problem or know how to get around this.
