how can I set up a midi command so that when I hit a note the set of drums I'm looking at on the drum rack changes to the next set of 16?

Put a midiFX pitch with +16 or -16, duplicate and macromap Device ON/OFF to the group rack
+16 to go to next drumset and -16 to go to previous.
It's a bit weirdo if you activate more than one pitch fx but overall it's only good flow at work

I always use this trick, it's very useful with pads.

I did a mistake though.

+/-16 means ONE bank_ so if you wanna go 2 banks up, then activate 2 pitch FX +16, same with -16. and so on

what does changing the lowest note do in this context?

i actually interpreted it differently and got a range of 3 sets to work with one knob twist...



the device on's values invert on the macro of the final grouping

and then theres a chain selector going from

dry 1-24

24-128 is the sweep of the inversion between the -16 and +16

ahhh

the loop changes with the midi translation...

i dunno how much use i have for this actually

i was going to use it do overdub whole songs in drum rack, but i guess that isnt possible...

In fact I've just redone it to be sure and here's the procedure to have the task rightly made.

Put a drumrack_ Take the principle that the first raw of 16sounds start at C-2.

Add 7 pitch Fx with +16 BEFORE the drumrack.

Then Group the 7pitch Fx and macro map [if you want, no forced to], just simply

Here's a link with an instrument rack and 8 banks available for drumrack.
It's empty, you'll need to fill it with your sounds

Ideally, midimap the chain selector with 8 consecutive midinotes on your controler [pads or keyboard]
[clic MIDI for mapping, press and hold the first note while adding the last note to it]
Then you can scroll from one to the other, from last to third or fifth or whatever way you wanna play your sounds.

ahh i figured out how to bypass the notes not being recorded when you shift up an octave

you gotta route the midi from a "dummy" midi channel

i loaded simpler with no sample then set the I/O out to the drum rack channel but the midi effects with the note shifting were on the "dummy channel"

ill see if i can load up the set and presets tomorrow

if you want to do it with a single key (not manipulating several pitch plugs..)

it can be done with midiyoke

1) midi track contains a single clip, playing c3, quantize = none. track has a random device, set to 'alt' mode. # of choices is up to you. output is to midiyoke

2) drum racks are housed within an instrument rack. chain selector is mapped to a range of notes which corresponds to the output of the first midi track.

it is easiest to wrap your head around if you set up the mappings first. then set the ranges on the instrument rack chain selector. if you have 8 steps on the random, and put a midi range of 1 octave on the chain selector, you'll get stepping through approx 0-80's something... which is fine as long as your chain zones are set in that range
