SmackTop - control Live by tapping/tilting your Macbook

I have just finished an open-source application for Mac laptops (after 2005) which translates the built-in accelerometer data into MIDI data and audio. This allows you to control your favorite DAW (obviously Live for you guys) by tilting and smacking (tapping) your laptop. This was built with Processing and Chuck.
It has methods to turn tilts into MIDI CC, and smacks into MIDI CC, NoteOn, and/or an audio impulse for sidechain effects.

Great project and great videos, but yeah, not sure how good it is for your laptop's internals to be smacking it like that...

One thing I'd like to point out:
I used "smack" for emphasis - it can be a tap, poke, jiggle, kick...whatever. You can set the value of the threshold so low that even typing will set it off. If typing is bad for your hard-drive, then so be it.
Princeton Laptop Orchestra has been smacking/tilting computers for 4+ years. I have never heard of one being broken this way...although I agree it is a potential danger. I have included warning statements for those severely lacking in common sense.
+1 for solid state drives.
