Is anyone here subscribed? I was looking for skins for ableton and i came across this. I knew about the site but this is new to me. Has anyone used it? Any good? I want to brush up my mixing and production and have been looking around for something like this. $50 for a year seems pretty good and they offer a 30 day nqa money back guarantee so seems like it's worth a punt. Sounds good but has anyone been inside?
Also if you sign up for the producer tip list you get another $10 off. $40 for a year sounds like a no brainer but what's your experience/opinion of it?
Cheers.

$40 for a year is not much for a good tutorial, but it's hard to say if this really will be or not. I don't see any demo material other than a list of the categories. I also am not a fan of reading 200 pages of instruction online. For that I'm more comfortable searching online for free content.
I'd pay for video tutorials and I'd pay for books, which most the time have more content than 200 online pages and are cheaper than $40.
Anyway, my take on it is that I'd pass, but maybe this is exactly what you're looking for?

It is the kinda thing i've been looking for. I already have a few book and lots of free tutorials and resources. I am looking for something that covers areas such as mixing and production techniques. I did one of the free tutorials and got some useful stuff from it but i wonder how much a paid sub will add to what's already on the site.
I was clicking through some of the more interesting tutorials but kept hitting a wall as they were sub only. There's a moneyback guarantee anyway so i've got nothing to lose but i was wanting to know if the content itself is worth the fee. A whole year for that is much less than a 3 day course and it seems to have some really good stuff from the content page. I suppose the only thing i've got to lose is the time it will take to go through it... Btw it works out about £25 which isn't bad. I've seen books online for a lot more than that anyway.
If i don't think it offers anything i can always get the refund and buy a book.

I've emailed the guy who runs it anyway to ask if my money will be well spent (like he's gonna say no

). I'm sure it's great but i was surprised not to have heard anything about it on here. I did a search and all i got was a mention about the free tutorials. It looks good, seems to cover a broad spectrum and it's aimed at Live. And it will give something to focus on which i need right now. I will probably subscribe and if it's good i will post about it here.

Hi MusikMachine,
I replied to your email, and also I saw your post here

(I read this forum all the time.)
In case anyone else is curious, here's what I wrote:
Thanks for writing. Of course, I'm going to recommend my site

But, I'm happy that I can honestly recommend it for your specific needs. Since you've read through the free material, you know that the content is geared towards electronic music producers. If this is the genre of music that you write, then the Premium site has lots of mixing and production tricks for you.
I was once in your position. After taking several courses and seminars, I realized that there weren't *any* decent training materials available for electronic music producers. Lots of knowledge was out there, but it was only shared among tight-knit groups of professionals. So, I started reading and watching all of the material I could find. Then, I partnered with several professional house producers to come up with SonicTransfer Premium. The site is meant for people like you, who want to understand mixing, synthesis, songwriting, and production without reading through pages of generalized information.
Anyway, I'm glad you wrote and I wish you the best of luck in your musical journey. I'm a musician and teacher, not a salesman, so all I can do is recommend the site. If you're curious about Premium, you can see a copy of the home page
here.
I should also mention that, yes, the site does discuss balancing mixes, basic panning concepts and also advanced panning using delay tricks, and many, many techniques for using and building effects.
The Premium site is general enough for any DAW, but you'll get the most out of it if you use Ableton Live. It's intended for beginner to intermediate producers, but there are some advanced topics covered as well. I honestly believe that it is the best subscription site available for electronic music production. And, if it doesn't suit your needs then there is a no-questions-asked money back guarantee. There are hundreds of active subscribers, many who have shared testimonials you can see
here.
I know that Ableton Live users are an incredibly talented and brainy bunch, and this forum provides a wealth of community knowledge. I think SonicTransfer fills a gap in that it organizes a lot of the same concepts into a friendlier presentation, and provides foundational knowledge that might otherwise be assumed.
Anyway, sorry for the lengthy post, and happy producing!
Matt

@musikmachine:
I've often been curious about the "premium" tutorials on that site as well. If you do end up subscribing, I'd like to hear your opinion on what you get for the money. Obviously $40-50 isn't too steep a price. I've come across this site many times, but I always felt like it was a bit under-developed, so I'm hesitant to pay anything. Here are a couple of my concerns (maybe mattsonic can answer these as well...):
-Quantity/quality of tutorial topics? (I assume there is more than what is listed on the "view the premium site" preview)
-How regularly does the site get updated/more content added?
-Are the premium tutorials any more in-depth than the freebies?

Well you can't lose with the money back guarantee. The premium content list does look good on the surface and the free tutorials are good so i think it stands to reason that the content you will pay for will be better. If you look on the forums Matt writes tutorials for people who ask forums. Maybe does them for paid subscribers based on questioned they ask as well. I've noticed a few were for Live 8 so must be quite up to date. Guess i'll be the guinea pig.
@Matt, i keep reading about drum stack; is that part of the custom music software you get? What other software do you get? Also what do you mean by internal links? Thanks for replying, good to get it straight from the horses mouth.
Cheers.
I was just reading this:
http://sonictransfer.com/about-author
So Matt is most of the premium content similar to what's available on the main site? Cheers.

An outline of the contents is available here. I think they are high quality
.
- How regularly does the site get updated/more content added?
I'm constantly adding improvements to the Premium section. The Free site content lags behind what is available in the Premium area. Additionally, software releases have been coming out for over a year. For example, the full version of ChordBlocks is only available to Premium subscribers.
.
- Are the premium tutorials any more in-depth than the freebies?
The length of the tutorials is about the same. I try to keep everything readable in one sitting. The topics focus more on production theory rather than specific tools. Tools come and go while production theory will improve your skills no matter what you decide to use.
.
- @Matt, i keep reading about drum stack; is that part of the custom music software you get? What other software do you get?
DrumStack was a very successful free Rack I designed a while ago. Lots of producers used it to fatten up their drums, and some still use it today. After Drum Racks were introduced in Live 7, I stopped using DrumStack as much. However, lots of other people still like it, so I've left it online. The DrumStack tutorial is still a good way to learn about drum layering.
SonicTransfer Premium subscribers get access to the full versions of DrumStack and ChordBlocks. Since releasing those tools, I've been reading about DSP and creating VST plugins for my own use. Premium subscribers get the first look at the latest SonicTransfer audio software as it comes down the pipeline.
Happy Producing!
Matt Sonic
