Selecting data does take forever

Hi there,
I constantly run into the same problem when I'm working on a song in ableton; after a certain amount of complexity and data in the live-set the editing speed slows down dramatically. With my current set (410 MB of data when collected) it takes up to 15 sec to move the selection frame or to select an audio file. The amount that Live needs to move the selection frame increases with amount of data that's selected. I have a rather fast machine (Intel Quad x 2.5 GHz, 3.25 GB RAM, fast HDs) and none of the computer performance meters in Live indicate an above average load on the system resources. And also Audio playback is not affected by this problem..
Has anyone an idea how I might fix that problem? It's really hard working that way if you can get make another coffee until something is happening after clicking..
