This started the moment I saved my first Live 8 preoject a few months ago and the folder icons are bright blue with weird black streaks...
Not sure why it's happening, but does anyone else see weird folder icons in the Finder?

I'm running os 10.5.8 on a PPC

Yes, I updated to 8.0.5 last night. Haven't saved any new projects yet, but older projects folders still have the same corrupt icon.

Just made a "dummy" project folder and it uses the standard Mac OS folder.
I can live with that.

(But maybe you'll want to note it anyway)

I don't have the same exact problem, but something similar. It happened while using 8.0.4 and it still does it on 8.0.5:

Sometimes when saving a new project the folder icon is a standard Mac OS X folder icon. Other times it saves as normal and appears as an "ableton" folder icon. When a Mac OS X folder icon appears instead, inside there is a file titled "icon" but it has no data in it. It's just some random file called "icon."

It only happens on certain projects of mine. Generally, projects save new just fine and appear with ableton folder icons. But sometimes if I decide to take an older project and save it as a new one on my desktop for the sake of organization, it will instead save in a standard mac osx folder.

I've got the same 4KB document named "icon" in my dummy project.

Yeah, I can't figure it out. It's sort of a 50/50 event.
Sometimes it saves as normal in a nice, new Ableton folder icon.
Other times is saves irregularly in a dumb standard Mac OS X folder icon.

It doesn't affect performance or anything, but it's sort of annoying. I like opening my "recording" folder and seeing all of these Ableton project folder icons. Instead, I'm greeted by some white (ableton icons) and some blue folders.

Lame.

Well Gee whiz golly jeepers.... When I wrote that, I was actually running 8.0.4. I forgot to put the new Live.app update in my dock... until today. I'm two for two with the folder icons in the Finder working properly since I've been using 8.0.5.

i'm still getting this problem on 8.0.5

can anyone suggest a fix for this?

Are you sure this happens with 8.0.5 when creating a new project or are these
just relicts from the older Live version?
So: what happens if you create a new project a save it? How does the folder icon look like?

Yes this is still happening in 8.0.5 when creating a new song, but not every time.
I get a generic Apple folder and an icon file in the project folder.

This happens to me, too. Only sometimes, though.

My specs:
Macbook Pro OS X 10.5.8
1.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
2GB 1067 MHz DDR3 memory
Ableton Live 8.05
