Clip Buffering Stops at 95% ... Help please

Hi All.

I have started using Live for my backing tracks as part of a trio that I play in. For a while all was good but I started getting some glitches and stutters etc. I thought it might have been the HDD speed so I decided to load the tracks into RAM (by selecting the RAM button). The other evening I was checking things out as the last track was all over the shop - stutters, glitches etc. The previous 24 were fine ... I went about turning RAM off and on again for that tract and playback was OK again.

The next day after rehearsal, I decided to load the set up and check thing out. I noticed that the buffering of audio that happens at startup only went to 95%. So, I investigated ...

It was only using 1.2GB of RAM (as per task manager) I tried everything to get it 100% but it wouldn't happen.

Next, I created another set and put a whole bunch of songs into it. I turned the RAM feature on clip by clip and was able to load clips into RAM all the way to 1.79GB. At this stage I suspect OS and application overheads would make the system start paging like crazy as I only have 2G of RAM installed.

I went back to my problem set and followed the same procedure and discovered that it would not go past 1.2GB of memory before it refused to load any more songs up ....

BTW - the same songs were use in both sets - with the test set having some additional ones thrown in ...

Has anyone experienced this ?? Any ides as to why ?

Thanks and regards, Peter

What version of Live?
Any instances of NI Battery 3 in the sets?
