In that PC editor (mountain systems) - go to the help file and look for a link called USE EXAMPLES.........which explains more clearly how to jump thru the hoops of sending and receiving the sysex. Here's the text, hope that helps. I couldn't have programmed the FCB without this.

1. Press the 6 button on the FCB1010
2. This sends the SysEx data to the PC
3. This process takes about 5 seconds
1. Use the Write SysEx button to save your result to a PC file
At this point your FCB1010 SysEx data is stored on your PC in the path you specified and using the file name you input.
You may now make changes in your FCB1010 programming as desired. When done, use the steps below to save your result and load the SysEx data back to your FCB1010.
Loading a SysEx File To the FCB1010
Loading a SysEx file to your FCB1010 involves the following hardware and software:
¨ FCB1010 pedal
¨ MIDI input and output cables
¨ PC running Windows 95 or later
¨ MIDI hardware adapter to bring MIDI data into your PC
Connect a MIDI cable to the FCB1010 MIDI in connector. Connect the other end to the MIDI out connector on your PC MIDI adapter.
While pressing the DN button on the FCB1010, turn the FCB1010 on. Continue holding the DN button for at least 5 seconds, which puts the FCB1010 in global setup mode. Then press the UP button 2 times, which should turn on the Config light on the FCB1010. This process is explained in some details in the FCB1010 manual in section 2.5.2.
The FCB1010 is now ready to send or receive MIDI SysEx data. Now start the PC Editor and load any saved PC SysEx file you have saved from previous editing.
1. Press the 7 button on the FCB1010
2. This sets the FCB1010 waiting for SysEx data
1. Press the Transmit SysEx button on the PC Editor
1. Wait about 10 seconds
2. Press the DN button on the FCB1010 pedal
1. Continue holding the DN button for at least 30 seconds
1. You should see the FCB1010 display count down from 10 to 01
2. When all lights stop changing, the process is complete
3. Turn the FCB1010 off, then turn it back on again
4. Test to be sure your new settings are working correctly
Note: Step 6 is very important to be sure all banks and patches are correctly update. This process will take at least 30 seconds.
Note 2: Some MIDI gear and setups will have problems during steps 8-13 if the MIDI In connector is still connected. If you encounter this problem, disconnect the MIDI In connector after step 7 is completed.
