I've decided to become anti-web

I've relaunched my site. www.nebulae.com is supremely simplistic and static HTML. Fuck flash. Fuck blogs. Fuck joomla. I'm done with maintaining, graphic-ing, and tweaking. I just want to make music. And when I promote it, I just want to post about it.

To that end, I created a simple page, with a link to Bandcamp (which has IMHO the simplest upload/download/pay-to-purchase music scheme favorable to artists), and a link to my own forum where I will post stuff about my music.

Hopefully, less to worry about, and less shit to go wrong. More time to make music.

Feel free to go and post some shit on my forum. :) www.nebulae.com/bb

That's not anti-web, that's Web 2.0Pro. Good move.

I was thinking about coding up my own site, but can't be arsed with maintaining something too complex. If only myspace wasn't evil and so rubbish. Bandcamp looks ok, but I noticed that their top featured artists all have other "real" websites for their bands. How do you show upcoming gigs or add a bit of background info/images in bandcamp?

Oh and this...Image...FTW! :D

Thx guys :)

Not sure about how to promote gigs via bandcamp...I think myspace is almost a necessary evil, though it's clearly lost its ground. Bandcamp does tie into last.fm though, but I'm still figuring all that out.

This is why I just want a quick and dirty forum to post shit about.

I had wordpress for a while, but then my "blog" looked like every other out there, and I had to do a bunch of graphics every time I posted something. Not to mention script injection hacks and what not.

So anyways, I went back to the drawing board, and decided on simple. If Google can still their main page as it is, there's no reason I can't have mine as minimal and carefree as this...

Good point - I'll figure out where to edit that, as I don't want to be liable to myself, and then end up having to sue myself. Shit, even if I win, I'll only collect 40% in legal fees. The other 60% will go to my client. Which I suppose will be me.

@Forge

I like Soundcloud a lot, but the download and paying schemes at Bandcamp win for me. The site is butt-simple to use for both artists and fans alike. And you get paid. The clearest "who needs a label?" concept I've ever seen.

hardly antiweb man.
fuck everything and just text + links. nothing more, nothing less.
if it displays the same in mozilla as in lynx, then you have succeeded.
