so i created a project at home on a firewire drive. when i tried to open it at my studio ableton would hang up when trying to load kontact. the problem is that it hides the find sample window behind the ableton app... i couldn't get the kontact sample window in the foreground no matter what i tried.. i figured out this was the problem by killing the program with taskmanager and seeing the sample window open during shutdown.. i ended up having to remove kontact from my vst folder and rebuild the project.. i had the same result with battery as well..

i have had many times to relocate some kontakt samples, and i didn't have any trouble. the locate window was where it was supposed to be (in the foreground).
are you on mac, pc, using vst, au?
and more importantly, which version of kontakt are you using?

1.5.3.XX whatever it is... i had around 3 instances of kontakt and battery in this session... i would get the prompt to load the sample for one of them then it would lock up after that.. not really lock up as much as just sit there waiting.. it was waiting for the other sample windows to be clicked but is hiding them..

this may not solve your problem, but is just a short advice: if you don't use more than the 16 midi channels of kontakt, then use only one instance. it saves quite some CPU and i think it makes the app work better (you can create as many midi inputs and audio outputs as you need).
this is why they make multi-channel VSTis...
