Hi Guys

I am running Live 4 on a MAC G4 Duel 450Mhz with 1GB ram, I am using the internal built in Sound card. When I use the reverb plug-in the processor MAXes out and the sound jitters and slows down. I have whacked the audio buffer right up but still the problem persists. This is the same when I use more 2 Simpler....I would of thought my set up would be fine for these operations...BTW I'm using OSX Panther, is there any suggestions for a way to stop this with out using less plug-ins????

Thanks

Its late, I've had a few drinks...........but I must say that a Dual 450 G4 is the problem when running any music program (except maybe Logic) on OS X.

I run a single 1.4Gb G4 and I only use OS 9.2.2, wouldn't even bother with OS X until I get a G5.

Live 4 on OS 9.2.2 is fine....maybe setup an OS 9 partition.

cheers

Thanks

I'm not sure I agree...

I ran the performance test (from this forum recently) on my Dual 530 on OSX and was pissed that it ran so poorly, I'm the last guy in the graph. So I tried it on a clean partition of OS 9.2.2. It ran much worse, froze up the mouse, wouldn't stop playing even when I hit the spacebar, etc.

I just tried a simple test of adding reverbs to one clip until it bogged down. OS 9 could handle 4, and at 5 really messed up sound and interface response. OSX could handle five, and at six started stuttering and clicking, but the interface responded well. I"ve always thought that 9.2.2 had better performance, but now I'm not so sure.
