Ableton Forum

Any help here? ive looked around to see if theres a setting i dont have turned on. I upgraded to live 8 suite, new cpu with 64 bit vista and everything seems to be working well. Only i have to reopen and load all the waves i sampled into sessions and its not letting me drag and drop so Im forced to do it manually through setting the folder to search. Is there a settting i dont have on in ableton or in vista that will allow me to drag and drop???

am I not getting a response due to using vista 64? Is this a company support forum or jus support from other users?

ill have to figure out where to get customer support i guess, after spending $1000 nearly on ableton products

hello??? does and support exist here? in the previous version of Live i could drag and drop samples from my browser now i cant. i can only drag and drop them from the ableton live browser as opposed to dropping them from the location folder. they are also file types supported that drop otherwise in ableton browser but unlike the old version of ableton, they wont drag and drop from windows browser in ableton live 8.4, which i paid almost 9 004 for.

i love the ableton product but the support has been worse that ANY product i have ever own, actually support has been non existenet other than other users.

Live 8 on Vista 64 bit has not proven to be stable for me all of the time. :[

I had a similar issue on Windows 7 where it wont let you drag a file from windows explorer in to live.

It turned out to be the fact I was launching ableton live in administrator mode (windows explorer is not run in admin mode therefore you cant drag n drop to a program run in admin for security reasons).

I changed the settings and works fine now. Vista might have slightly different settings to windows 7 but it's worth searching for solutions for drag n drop problems for vista.

oh yea, i did upgrade to 7 a few weeks ago.

7 seems to be jus a tad slower as well which is suprising, vista was super fast.

I see why i am running 7 and why i was running vista in admin mode. Im using the m box 2 mini and for some reason i read that it will only let me assign it to ableton in the audio preferences if i am running admin mode. i just tried not in admin mode and it wont enable the m box 2 mini. is there a way around running in admin mode jus to use my sound card? i assume from reading it initially it had sumn to do with the digidesign 64 bit incompatibility.

have you tried turning UAC in win 7 off?

will require a restart but...if you do this and find ableton freezes on launch then you will need to backup and delete the preferences.cfg.
typical location: c:\users\<your profile>\AppData\Roaming\Ableton\Live 8.1.1\Preferences\preferences.cfg

deleting the preferences.cfg will mean you have to reconfigure your preference options inside ableton.

Instead of turning UAC off, you can give your user the rights for Ableton Live.

- Rightclick on the Live symbol
- then choose Properties
- go to Security tab
- choose your user
- and give him full rights
