Live 4.0.1 can't use GM drums with DLSMusicDevice

Hi.

I'm using the Live 4.0.1 demo on OS X Panther.
I'm using the DLSMusicDevice plug-in to play a GM compatible Soundfont (although the problem exists with the built-in Quicktime sounds as well).
It seems that in order to use any of the drum patches in a GM soundfont with the DLSMusicDevice I have to send that data (program changes, notes, etc.) over channel 10.
Live does not seem to be able to send data over channel 10.

You can try this yourself with the built-in sounds:
Create a MIDI track.
Assign the DLSMusicDevice plug-in to it.
In the plug-in window, make sure that the built-in Quicktime Synth is selected.
Make sure you turn the track's monitor on.
With an external keyboard (or routed internal MIDI message source) play some keys. You will probably hear the QT piano sound.
Now, try to figure out a way to play the QT drum sounds...

You can only select programs that are available on channel 1 of the DLSMusicService, meaning that you can never select or play a drum program.

Anyone have a creative workaround for this?

Thanks.

The workaround is that you fire from another MIDI track to channel 10 of the dls music synth.

Thanks for the fast reply, but how exactly do you make another midi track fire to channel 10? How can you make any of the Live Midi tracks fire on channel 10?

Am I missing something? Could you tell me the exact steps to take?

Thanks again for this help.
