[dds] PowerPC System Slow Down

Post by Sonicavenger » Tue Sep 29, 2009 5:28 pm

Hey guys,

Installed M4L and b4 last night on my old G4--OS X 10.4.11, 1.67gHz, 2GB RAM. While I expected this to beat the machine up quite a bit (just going through the initial tutorial lesson devices had this machine running at over 50%), this morning I restarted for the first time after the reboot that followed the install to find the system as a whole is draggin ass. THOUGH, I did keep Live 8.0.5 installed and have had problems before with two different versions of Live living on the same system drive.

I'm in the slow process of uninstalling the beta pair and will post the results. Meanwhile, I look forward to running this beta set on my Quad-Core Mac Pro with 4 GB of RAM!

More soon ...

Oh yeah--that fixed it. The beta pair has been uninstalled and booting up was flawless and the system is running normally.

I forgot to mention upon booting up today I got the dreaded Mac OS gray screen that demands a restart in several languages followed by a successful reboot that oddly asked for my admin password to log in (I don't have the pref set up). In regards to the latter, the OS never completed initializing OS X--had to manually reboot a third time.

Also, my left side USB port was having trouble recognizing USB interfaces like the M-Audio JamLab and Black Box (drivers are up to date and were functioning normally previous to the install of the beta pair).

Bummer.
