midi triggered envelope over live input

hello Cloud,

what would be the most efficient way (if any) to apply an adsr envelope over a live sound input than can be triggered from an ableton midi clip (with notes as trigger for example) ?

thank you,

Gideon

short answer: dummy clips

slightly longer answer: create a bus track by routing the output of the input track to another track and use a clip envelope to control the volume of it

[edit] or do what ethios said in the link below! \/

regards,

Cloud

yes thanks, i've got that setup working no prob…

now i'd like to trigger a 'proper' adsr envelope with midi notes from a midiclip ..
would be optimal if the adsr points could be controlled with midi in real-time as well ..

What exactly do you mean by "proper"?

You can set up different envelopes using the method outlined above and then trigger them either through direct midi mappings from a controller to your dummy clips or automate them by using a midi clip with midi note triggers going out over a virtual midi bus.

I can't think of a way to midi map the breakpoints of the envelope though......

welll with proper i mean, these solutions are very nice, but they are workarounds in a way ..
would be great to be able to feed the sound source into analog for instance ..
but, i'll use max4live and fix it custom, no sweat, just wondered if i was overlooking something obvious ..

thanks !
