his stuff is good - I Use Elephant all the time.

But, the website sucks.

And, all of the other plugs I want to buy are not AU / Mac - Gliss eq for example. . .

Boo!

It makes no sense at all. Buy a bunch of plugs, and then eventually get a discount later after you've bought the plugs you want? HUH?!

And how is that a GROUP buy?! Unless you're counting the group of plugs you just bought?!

I use Elephant all the time, and have for years. His Voxformer is also excellent as an all in one vocal channel strip.

"Marketing says people like free"
"but ive concocted an elegant scheme that is actually more efficient"
"but.....free. like buy 1 get 1 or something."
"Just look at my 32 page synopsis of the deal, it makes perfect sense"
"I can obviously tell english is your first language. this is going to sell like hotcakes."

As one of them, I can assure you the smartest people in the world are usually the dumbest.

+1 on the most confusing press release I've ever read. Huge fan of the stuff Aleksey does, Elephant and Polysquashers are staples in my mastering arsenal, but this is very confusing.

Ok, I 'think' I get this. You buy now to obtain a future discount on your purchases after the group buy ends. The value of the discount is based on total sales during the group buy sale. You then get to use the group buy discount on your next purchase. If you want you can split the total discont over multiple purchases. ie say the final discount is 50% you could use that one purchase (not sure if this covers multiple items brought at once or if it's only for one plug in) or you could split it say 20% for the first purchase and 30% for the second.

Erm hope that makes sense?

Alexsy's stuff is already cheap enough as it is, some plugins, such as Elephant 3, he could charge 3-4 times the list price and it would still be great value.

And let's not knock the guy over AU plugins. It's a one man operation and Alexsy has already converted several windows VST plugins to Mac OSX AU plugins, with a view to getting more converted.

I own Elephant (the best wideband limiter out there), Voxformer, Soniformer (this is a brilliant graphical wideband or multiband with stereo tools), Curve EQ, R8 Brain PRO (the best SRC out there). Some great free tools such as MSED, SPAN, Old Skool Verb, Stereo Touch, Boogex etc.

This is a STRANGE discount offer though.

I can see how they are trying to spice things up instead of the same 'ol group buy concept by assigning point values to different plugs but I think they then took it too far. It shouldn't be "pay full price for one now and get a discount on another later". It should be put however many plugs you want in the bucket towards the group buy and when the group buy ends you buy those plugs with the discount decided by the collective group buy.

The way they set it up makes it very unappealing and almost "I don't trust you to kick down later so pay for 1 NOW."

I understood it, but don't really like the idea behind it. It really could have been a lot easier than this with similar results.

I've been wanting to pick up Elephant for the longest and maybe even Pristine Space, but that's about it for me.
