XP Process Problem

Running Live 7.0.15 on XP SP3.

I'd been having intermittent problems with Live hanging and think I have figured out what is causing it.

When I quit Live it takes up to 5 minutes for the process to dissappear from the task manager. Problem happens if I open Live again before the process has gone. If I do this there is a good chance that Live will hang and computer will freeze.
When I open task manager I see 2 instances of Live process and if I try to shut down Windows can not kill these processes.
In this state I cannot kill these processes from task manager either.

If I open Live and then close it without loading any audio the process clears with no problems.
Any ideas?

Hello,

Please try first if this issue persists with the latest Live 7.0.16 and ASIO drivers
(e.g. the driver from www.asio4all.com). If that´s the case, please send me your
Log.txt to [email protected]
The Log.txt file can be found in following location:
•Windows (Live 3): (Installation Directory)/Ableton/Preferences
•Windows (Live 4 and later versions): C:/Documents and Settings/yourusername/Application Data/Ableton/Live/Preferences
•Windows Vista: c:/users/username/appdata/roaming/ableton/live/ preferences/
•Mac OS X: /User/Library/Preferences/Ableton

Note that on some Windows systems the application data folder is hidden by default. Here is what you have to do to make it visible:
Windows XP/2000
1.Launch Explorer.
2.Select Tools/Folder Options/View.
3.Check "Show hidden files and folders."

Best,
Christian

Tried 7.0.16 and latest ASIO4ALL last night. Same result.
Will recreate and send logs this evening.
Thanks for the reply.

Upgraded to Live 8 and the same problem happened but I figured out what was wrong.

I use an RME Multiface with PCMCIA card.
When not connected to the multiface I leave the PCMCIA card in and run from ASIO4ALL.
The problem only seems to happen when the card is in but not connected to the Multiface.
When I take the card out Live closes normally.
