It's quite dangerous having the MIDI button next to the CPU button - I have a few times gone to click MIDI and hit it instead - lucky I wasn't on stage!

even just option or command first would be better

Why don't you use the short cut? Command + M?

True, but that's not the point. The point is that it's weird to have a potentially set-breaking button so easily available in the GUI.

I use that too, but sometimes it;s easier to keep going with the mouse if you;re already near it

Yeah I feel you, but it's not that big of a deal. It's something you wont use during a Live set (MIDI mapping), next to something you'll never use during a Live set (audio engine)... I could understand if it was next to a crucial item, but it doesn't make sense that you'd need MIDI map during a Live set..

Well I wouldn't say never. For me my main template set is continually evolving - if you have an idea of a better way to control something, or you just want to temporarily control something you could

but in any case, I have hit it while recording a DJ set, which is pretty annoying - there may not be anyone watching but it means losing the flow and having to do it again
