Hi folks,

We just released a beta version of the very soon upcoming 8.0.8 bugfix update.
Every Live 8 owner can use this beta version.

Because the latest released version number is 8.05, you might ask why this version number is already 8.0.8.
This is simply because the version numbers 8.0.6 & 8.0.7 are reserved for special OEM related releases.

Version info:

Current version: Live 8.0.8b1
Expiration date: 2009/10/25
Required serial: Live 8 full version

Download info:

http://downloads.ableton.com/extra/5839 ... 8b1_en.dmg
http://downloads.ableton.com/extra/5839 ... 8b1_en.zip

Kind Regards
/Alex

Changes from Live 8.0.5 to 8.0.8b1:

Improvements:

Updated Manual

Updated help pages

Control Surface support for Novation Launchpad

Several improvements for the AxiomPro Controllers

Bugfixes:

Using the double/halve tempo buttons of the Looper could introduce an audible offset [5857]

Playing MIDI could crash Live when multi-core support is enabled [5608]

If the slot button below a disabled Session clip has been removed, the disabled clip would not respect this and act as stop button [5872]

In the Arranger, auto scrolling would not work properly when dragging tracks [5865]

On Mac OS X, open the application menu would not close an open context menu [5768]

On Mac OS X, using a Remote SL and loading a particular Live set with a Fab Filter Twin 2 would crash Live

On Mac OS X, the Key stroke handling for AudioUnits using Cocoa views would not work properly

On Mac OS X 10.6.x, starting Live with a template set that contains audio clips, and with another CoreAudio client running at the same time (e.g. iTunes), would freeze Live. Also, changing sample rates in Live would not work properly

Replacing a Macro mapping with a Key mapping could crash Live [5913]

Return track header selection would not work properly [5677]

On Mac OS X, Audio Units, wrapped by Novation Automap, would not appear in the right folders [5752]

Setting an MTC start offset to a negative value would not show the value properly [5456]

Grabbing and moving the left edge of an Arranger loop while the loop start is out of the view would not behave properly [5216]

In the Arranger, scrolling would not work properly when dragging or moving tracks [5139]

Under certain conditions, the LFO of the Sampler would not work properly

Switching banks via remote script would not be indicated in the status bar [5969]

Switching on track-solo would not work properly in exclusive mode when switching via the APC controller [5838]

Unsupported multi channel audio files would crash Live [5995]

When exporting an video file, the resulting video file would grow on each export instead to be replaced [5996]

On Mac OS X, when typing the name of an existing file, but without the extension, Live would overwrite the existing file without asking for confirmation

8.0.8?

I was lucky today.. Was waiting for being picked up, going to a studio for recording. The driver was delayed in a family dinner, so I had to wait for a while when actually fully packed and ready to go. So I thought it was a great opportunity to install 8.0.5! But fear and behold it took more then 2 hours! Luckily just in time to the pickup.. he was very late.

Now this is why I waited so long to install it in the first place (suite).. I dont have the time! When I pull up Live a few hours each week between my day job, its full page ahead direct creative flow producing, cant stop and wait for that shit..

Actually havent upgraded since 8.0.3.. it was working fine to me.
Very happy about the progress of version releases, but if I can have a wish: Please, this time let us have a lighter download/faster install! :D

What you mean by "Control Surface support for Novation Launchpad"
I thought it came with its drivers kind of automap stuff.
Does this mean that we have to wait until 8.0.8 is out to get Launchpad working?
.. or it means that you will provide native support to Launchpad ditching Novation
drivers but Launchpad will work upon release with older L8 versions like 8.0.4 or 8.0.5?

Shall we ever see 'X station added as control surface' and at least proper native support for automap ? Instead of that, we have to rely on the work of a customer (thanks Guille) but with shortcomings (no feedback on the name of the macro controls on the nocturn).

The Launchpad works in Live without special drivers. You literally plug and play (after you select its midi script). You'll need 8.0.8, but you could also use 8.0.6 which ships with every Launchpad.

The automap stuff is optional and for the most part redundant if you use another Novation controller.

Thank you for clarification. I do not like to run any other software than Ableton's on my machine..
Less drivers = More stability.
So... Launchpad will ship on 2nd November can I guess 8.0.8 will be ready by then? :P

I'm not gonna join this beta adventure this time. I'm posting reports and Abes saying "ooo it's the problem which is in the core of the Live, so we can't touch it for a time.."
sounds strange.. I donT want to feel it again... cheers..

Are they going to fix the bug where I have to click on the timeline after editing a parameter in a plugin to get Live to play? I want to be able to start and stop Live with the space bar while editing a 3rd party plugin. Its really annoying and was not in Live 7. It really slows down editing.

Super stoked about the new manual and help pages. Seriously, though, please don't release Live 9 until 2012, at the earliest. These beta tests are getting ridiculous.
