That little slut sis of mine...
That little slut sis of mine...
My mixer (Alesis MM8) just bit me in the ass on Saturday. Coincidentally, I upgraded the driver for it on Thursday. I've had it with that thing. It seems like every time I do a driver update I have to reinstall my OS to get the new drivers working correctly. This has been going on for about 3 years. I'm so done. I was looking at RME's products, but I don't know about dropping a grand on an interface... correction I know I'm not dropping a grand on an interface right now.
The Presonus Firebox is looking like a major contender for me at the moment. The Presonus Blue Tube DP was such a massive boost to my chain (because my current mixer's pre amps suck) that I feel all warm (like my audio from the Blue Tube) and fuzzy (like my recordings on Saturday) about Presonus at the moment.
Anyone got any good reasons to avoid that combo? - Firebox and Blue Tube DP by Presonus
What about the Firebox with Windows 7?
TC comments?
Edirol commets?
I really don't want to buy more gear... I've bought a lot lately but considering that its all pretty useless without an interface...
thanks in advance,
g

Re: My Sis... used to be Love/Hate... now its just Hate.
updated title to make it look more OT.
Re: That little slut sis of mine...
title updated to OT 3.0

ok, lolling now.H20nly wrote:title updated to OT 3.0
[edit] i've got a TC electronics konnekt8. It works well on my windows box, have read others complaining about it w/mac tho'. Their stuff strikes me as well built. I also have MOTU ultralite, the older model, those sound and work well, and are even more well built, but you can find people moaning about those too.
UTENZIL a tool... of the muse.
Re: That little slut sis of mine...
A search for TC electronics konnekt 8 got me an item not found from the first two vendors I clicked on... not a good sign.
I found the konnekt 6. Not that this is anything to go on, but I like the look of it.
I need to make a move... preferably today or shortly thereafter. The Firebox is tempting, but something is holding me back. I think I'm just scared. I don't want any more funny business out of my mixer. I want something that just works and doesn't break the bank. I need to hook up a mic, a bass and a guest _____. Thats it.

got a TC Electronic Konnekt 6
I'd be lying if I said that the layout wasn't the final deciding factor. Holy shit batmang... I should have done this years ago.
I'm listening to the best sounding raw vocal take I've ever done. I was reading the lyrics and just testing...
again
anybody want to buy a used Alesis MultiMix 8?

Re: That little slut sis of mine...
My rankings of 4 customer level interfaces based on my experiences: RME Multiface II, Focusrite Saffire Pro 40, TC Electronics KonnektLive, PreSonus Firebox
Nothing scientific here, just experiences.
Best sounding preamps:
1. Saffire Pro 40
2. Firebox
3. KonnektLive
Multiface II won't rank here since it has no XLR-inputs and hence I've never used it by plugging a mic directly into it.
Lowest latency:
1. Multiface II (naturally)
2. Saffire Pro 40
3. KonnektLive
4. Firebox
Fewest problems:
1. Firebox
2. Saffire Pro 40
3. Multiface II
4. KonnektLive (has got solid by updates, though)
I'd recommend to take a look at Saffire Pro 40 as well, when considering options, I take they are getting quite affordable these days...

Thank you for this small but nice overview! Will consider it once I decide to buy a new interface. Regards, MartinLeifonMars wrote:My rankings of 4 customer level interfaces based on my experiences: RME Multiface II, Focusrite Saffire Pro 40, TC Electronics KonnektLive, PreSonus Firebox

Never, ever have driver issues on my macs.
I have a MM8 USB2, and for my needs, it is great, no drivers, always works, no glitches...
