Re: Ableton portable
i think the answer to the question by following your original logic is, No.
but, if your pen drive is big enough they're all portable.

Re: Ableton portable
not sure what "ableton portable" means?
mine is portable...heck when the boss is on vacation I bring my laptop to work and work on tracks from my cubicle. don't get much more portable than that.

PlasticSoul - There is no way that Live can be installed (and work properly) to a usb stick like Reaper. Reaper is the first daw I've heard of to take this unique and useful approach. A do it yourself dongle to run your licensed Reaper on any machine, any where, any time. Pretty cool!
If I may ask, how does this work for you with Reaper? Do you still get reasonable performance / latency with this setup?

Re: Ableton portable
Ok. People love to answer with "not sure what that is...". Like, if you don't know, imagine not polluting the universe with your ignorance.
A PAF (PORTABLE APPLICATION FILE) IS A CAREFULLY, LEGITIMATELY PACKAGED SOFTWARE VERSION OF A (USUALLY-POPULAR) PROGRAM
You will find many sites that offer "portable versions" of apps, all legitimate, which are valuable for use on ANY COMPUTER THAT MAY NOT BELONG TO YOU AND THEREFORE REQUIRES CREDENTIALS TO INSTALL SOFTWARE. The portable versions install into their own directory, all resources compartmentalized, with NO ADMIN CREDENTIALS NEEDED.
this is a VERY COMMON USE CASE, and I also am wishing there were a portable version of Ableton/Live, as I had my laptop stolen and am stuck on a library computer at the moment.
Would be groovy. thanks

Re: Ableton portable
Question and thread is from 2009 and Live is [still] activated to your computer with multiple unlocks available for additional systems.
Imagine not polluting the universe with your arrogance
Re: Ableton portable
Can we please not resort to insults? No need for it on these forums, if you don't agree with what other people want just don't reply. Thanks.
