Basic question - How do I copy a short bit from a larger bit

I have a long song loaded into Live 8 and I want to select a very short clip then copy that clip into a clip loop in another Live 8 project. I can't get the copy and paste to work across two different Live 8 projects.

How?

Thanks,

one way is
edit the sample to be exactly how you want it
then either consolidate or crop the sample.
go to one of lives file browsers (the same area where you effects/vst folders are)
under the bookmarks you can select current project.
that will point lives file browser to the project you are working on
(i'm sure this is confusing so search "file browser" in the manual and learn it well.
its a very handy feature and understanding will increase your work flow allot.

open up your other live set
now click the arrow to view the first live set in the file browser
you will see all of the tracks
now you can either drag in the entire track or click the arrow to see the clips/midi files of the track.. and then just drag in the clip.

then don't forget to collect all and save

i'd recommend getting to know all the options in the file management section
file/manage files

Thanks. I think I understand. One question, are you saying that I can open multiple projects simultaneously?

nope but you can view the project contents and import specific tracks or clips
