really good studio monitors for mixing/mastering?
hi all,
right now i have the Mackie hr824(mk1)monitors.had these for 6 years now.i like them, but have come to a point where they are too "forward" sounding and not enough attention to midrange clarity, plus they strain my ears too fast....
i'm looking for totally revealing, neutral sounding,non-fatiguing full-range ACTIVE monitors(at least down to 30hz) that are suitable for mixing/mastering.
the studio is acoustically treated, and is about 12m2.
regarding the price,i'm willing to spend around 2500 euro/$ 4000 on that.
thanks!

Dynaudio, Adam, or Genelec.

Rokit (Krk), good price, good quality.
It's fan-tas-tic.

I've heard the VXT series is worth a look but the KRKs are entry level toys shamefully used in most Guitar Center synth rooms.

give the new Event Opals a try.. if not, give the focal cm65's a try..
Re: really good studio monitors for mixing/mastering?
K + H O300 or O410 maybe, though I guess the 410s may be out of budget.

The Event Opals have gotten rave reviews - are they that good?
It's annoying as there aren't many places to check these sorts of things out, unless you know someone who has them.

Such a downer ..KRKs suck dirty butt nuts. The high range drills through you hears like a hot knife and the bass is absorbed through its own insulation.

random picture brand FTW!

I'm using the Mackie hr 824s (easily over 10 years old.) Little sad for me to hear you think they're not good enough, because I still love mine.
For that outlay of cash, the Genelec 1037c has a very balanced, neutral sound.
On a random note, I remember when the JBL 4311s were the hot monitors (the 70's); they still are killer stereo/living room speakers. I got my pair when a local disco went out of biz, they were the booth monitors. Remember when DJ booths used to be little enclosed living rooms?! Sweetness.
