Tracks being too loud or too quiet when mixing in Ableton.

I'm having a problem at the moment with tracks having different gains and different bit rates so obviously when I mix them the sound levels are quite off.
Apart from decreasing or increasing the volumes, is there any tips or tricks for getting tracks at the same sound level?

Instead of using the track volume you can double click on the clip to bring up the clip edit view. From there you can change the volume of the clip. So keep the track volume at 0db, and raise and lower the volume of the clip itself in the clip view.
Hope that helps.

I'm sorry but I don't understand why you don't wish to use the volumes to mix. Its essential to do so! If you are talking about dynamic changes in volume throughout a track then you should use the Utility plugin to automatic the gain which leaves your main track volume to control the overall level for mixing.

Stick a utility on it and adjust the gain
