Beginner Help

Post by arachnaut » Thu Nov 05, 2009 12:46 am

I downloaded the beta today and went through enough of the lessons to get an idea of my way around.

I've used Reaktor for some time, so this isn't exactly new to me, but I have not been able to find
any way to load a Live instrument into a max patch. I wanted to start with Sampler and modify some of
it's properties.

Can someone give me a hint?

You can only modify Max For Live devices. Simpler,Sampler,etc... are Not Max For Live devices. You can tell a Max For Live device because it has a edit device button on the top right hand corner. You can, however, control some of the functionality of a pre-programmed device like Sampler through the use of live.remote~

Geez, I am misled.

I thought I had access to the whole Live API, every device, etc.

So Max 4 Live is just another form of Reaktor with a little bit of Live smarts.

It's more than that. You can access functions in clips and tracks etc... You can basically control Live however you want. You can create instruments and audio and midi effects. There is a lot to it. I would still encourage you to take a look at it.
