controlling max 4 live parameters with clip envelopes

I made a little MAX effect and it has a couple of live dials for an interface which I can control from ableton with the mouse or with MIDI control (and from MAX - awesome!), but couldn't control them with clip envelopes. Is there something I need to do in MAX to make these available to Ableton?

You need to select a modulation mode in live.dial's inspector.
