one MIDI control, multiple assignments

I'm not sure if I just haven't figure out how to do this, or if it actually can't be done yet, but

I'd really like to be able to assign one MIDI controller to multiple parameters within live. Currently when you attempt to do this, it displays a decision box with 2 options, 'override' and 'cancel'. I'd like a third option named 'multi-assign'.

Here's a scenario where this would be useful:

you have 2 drum tracks and each has its own filter on it. With 2 MIDI switches and 1 MIDI knob and multi-assign you could set it up like so:

Button 1 turns filter on track one on and off.
Button 2 turns filter on track two on and off.
Knob controllers cutoff on both filters.

This allows you to filter either one or the other or both drum tracks at that drum tracks original mixer volume using one knob.

I can't figure out how to do this currently and it would be easy if you could assign one MIDI controller to multiple parameters.

I think everyone agrees this would be a great feature to have in Live.

Until it happens though, try my program controlAid if you're on a Mac. It will do exactly what your asking for, for as many controls as you want.

Thanks, I'm not on a MAC though...

Also, is there a way to de-assign a MIDI controller now? I know you can switch things around, but how do you de-assign?

just highlight the midi assignment and hit delete.

I think midiOX does that for PCs, but i'm not sure.

midiox can definitely do what you're looking for, though i imagine if you wanted to multi-assign on the fly, MidiOX would quickly get unwieldy. it tends to work best as a "set and forget" app.

this is a feature I also found missing, many times.

Edited, 'cause I've misunderstood something here.

Sorry
