I'm new to using VST plugins and have questions....

I've never used a VST plugin before and I have a couple of questions. 1)If I use a plugin that won't work in Live, will it affect the program in any way like corrupting files and such? 2)Is there a way to figure out if a plugin is compatible with Live without testing it first? I don't want to waste time with plugins that won't work. Thanks all.

you shouldn't have problems with corrupting files (unless it is a malicious virus disguised as a vst) and generally speaking if it is vst compatible it should work (though some don't). there used to be a list somewhere around here which listed a bunch of compatible vsts. Thge whole concept of vst is that it is a protocal so that if a plugin company or developer uses this protocol then it should work with a program which has a vst folder integrated.

Is it possible to use Logic Audio plugin in Live as well.
Or is it only for VST's? can someone direct me to a
free VST plugin on the web that I can try out?
Thanks.
